At 6:30am on Monday, July 30th, we met up at church to begin what would turn out to be a very grand adventure…
We spent the first afternoon baking cookies and brownies to take to the bread ministry that night. It was very hard for us not to eat them!!
The Bread Ministry is a family who picks up “left over” bread (and other food) from a warehouse in Atlanta and distributes it to needy people in their community. Every Monday night, they minister to people from many walks of life: the poor, the disabled, the drunk, the drug addicts, and the prostitutes. The evening begins with prayer, and then those ministering attempt to build relationships with the people who come to “shop.” This time, we were blessed because it POURED rain. That caused the people to stay around longer (not wanting to walk home in the rain), and it gave us a greater opportunity to talk and share with them. All the while, we were distributing the baked goods we had made as an extra treat for them. Praise God for the rain!!
