STREET EVANGELISM

This morning we started off with a quiet time and then talking with the group about yesterday. Our group then set off to go pick up Darlene for a day of street evangelism down at Lake Michigan. Before we picked her up we went to Duncan Doughnuts and conversed with a man at the door and found out he was a Christian. We invited him to the Block Party we were having that night and went on our way to pick up Darlene.

Darlene was really sweet and you could tell how much she really loved Jesus. She also could strike up a conversation with literally anyone. We would go up to people and she would tell them that we were from Texas and then transition into asking if they needed prayer. After several rejections we stumbled upon a lady from Africa who let us pray for her.

After walking a few more blocks we split into two groups, with mine including BJ and Dylan Rowe. One of the first people we talked to was a man named Rich. He was in a wheelchair. We started a conversation and found out that he was a Vietnam Army veteran who had burned his legs serving. He was a very nice and respectful man and was very likable. We told him why we were here and he said he respected us for doing so.

After we were done conversing Dylan led a prayer with him went on walking and almost immediately found a girl in a Dallas Mavericks shirt on, which caused the two Mavs fans(BJ and Dylan) to stop her and start talking to her. We found out that her name was Kiki and that she goes to college in Minneapolis, but was born in Dallas and was working for the summer in Chicago. Her parents were Christians and she was not, but she wasn’t offended by us spreading His Word. This time I led the prayer and we went on and met up with the other group.

We met several other people throughout the day, including a man who was recently a grandfather, and a lady named Mary. We saw a scenic view of Lake Michigan and started to head back to the vans. We met with Rich one more time and introduced him to the rest of our group.
