This week, I have been working to orient our new team to the area. One of their activites included a photo scavenger hunt in downtown Manchester, the nearest big city. We live in Salford, and it takes about 25 minutes to walk to Manchester.
As they hunted for the places on their lists, I walked around with half of the new team. Conviently for them, my girls happened to run into one of the pastors we work with, and he pointed them in the right direction. Here is a picture of Marilyn, Kim and I with Ian.
Some other orientation week activites included team building exercises. I had ordered new bunk beds for the girls, but the store didn’t deliver them until the second day the girls were here. We had to build the beds somehow so I decided to make it interesting.
The girls divided into two teams of three. Suddenly an “explosion” occurred, leaving one girl on each team unable to speak, another unable to see and the third unable to use her hands. Then the girls had to work together to construct the bunkbeds. The goal was to see which team could construct it correctly, safely and faster than the other team.
As you can imagine, it turned out to be a really fun time and a great way to explore each girls gifts and abilities. Even better, both of our new bunk beds were ready to go in time for lights out that night. Enjoy the picture below!
